700x500 iFrame
Using an Aptimus hosted ad unit within an iFrame provides you the ability to monetize traffic within your site's existing pages. Aptimus ad-units differ from typical banners in that they allow for cost per action pricing thus providing you a greater return.
The VENUE ad-unit is a large and engaging unit, built to support a variety of interaction models including lead capture, branding, and rich media such as videos and product demos. As with all Aptimus placements, they are intended for active locations such as post registration, login or download where consumers are highly engaged in the process.
How it Works
Similar to banners, the ad space for this type of integration is 100% dedicated to the advertiser's content to get the greatest response possible; i.e. it will not contain any site specific information or logos from your site. Your Aptimus contact will work with you to find the best locations on your site, and once identified Aptimus will create your ad-unit and provide you with a customized integration document and link typically within 1-2 business days. The Aptimus link can be called in a secure (https), as well as non-secure (http) mode depending on your web pages setup.
You will need to specify the size of the iFrame, 700x500 in this case, within the HTML of your page. This will allow the surrounding page to be presented in the browser and then load the Aptimus ad-content within the frame.
For example:
<iframe src="http://YourAptimusLinkHere.com"
height="500" width="700" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" id="aptimusframe">
</iframe>
If the consumer expresses interest in the initial advertisement, Aptimus will present subsequent offers that may also be of interest based on the type of offer they signed up for, or demographic information available. Typically the up-sell process takes place in a secondary window called by Aptimus. This allows the consumer to easily consider the additional offerings with your site remaining active.
If the consumer shows no interest in the Aptimus offer, they can continue through your site's process and Aptimus will consider the lack of response in determining which advertisements to display for the next visitor.
Requirements & Recommendations
- Create a 700x500 iFrame "cut-out" in a Point of Action location
- While Aptimus campaigns are customized to fit within the iFrame, we recommend Scroll bars be set to "Auto" to account for different web browsers, and to facilitate error messaging and navigation for the consumer.
- Higher conversion rates can be achieved by passing known user information such as gender, zip code, and age which can be used for PrePopulation and improved targeting
- If you elect to have Aptimus up-sell pages presented within a second frame on your site (rather than in their own window) you will want to specify a destination URL on your site where we can return the user back to your process if they aren't interested in the advertisement. This type of up-sell is very seamless to the consumer as the secondary pages typically utilize publisher branding to maintain a cohesive user experience.
NOTE: destURL is the destination URL that you want the user to go to, if they don't want to take one of the offers. If it is not included in the url string, the "No Thanks" link will not appear. It needs to be a complete URL with the http:// and destURL is case sensitive and should be URL encoded. Example:destURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eaptimus%2Ecom
